H1N1 Epidemic
The Influenza A(H1N1)considered a pandemic by the World Health Organization. The virus is spread from person to person. It is transmitted like the seasonal flu. H1N1 is a new virus and many people have no immunity, many more people can become infected with this flu strain than the seasonal flu. This strand of the flu spreads very rapidly among young people. Most people encounter the mild strain of the virus which needs no treatment. But, half of the people that were hospitalized, had underlying health conditions.
As of Early February, there have been at least 15, 921 deaths from H1N1 virus and has spread to more than 212 countries. The most deaths were reported in Europe and the Americas. The areas that have active but declining are Southern Europe, Southern Asia, and in East Asia. There are still cases in North Africa and West Africa but is declining rapidly. In Europe, it remains low. In the Americas, it continues to remain low.
